Whether you're a novice shooter or an experienced marksman looking to refine your skills, this class offers valuable insights and practical techniques to enhance your proficiency in shooting out to 500 yards and beyond.

Participants can expect an immersive and informative learning experience in the Long Range Marksmanship class, led by an experienced instructor and current US Army Sniper.

Learning objectives

Long range marksmanship opens up precision shooting to participants through 1 day of both classroom material and practical experience on the range. You can expect to develop a comprehensive understanding of precision shooting principles, including:

• Gun safety, and safe use of long range shooting facilities and equipment.
• Overview of precision rifle features and technology.
• Understanding the 4 fundamentals of long range marksmanship.
• Phases of the Integrated Act of Firing.
• Zeroing and managing optics.
• Theoretical principles of ballistics, including ammunition dynamics.
• Ballistic calculations and range/windage adjustments.
• After action reports and using DOPE to improve performance.

Both regular shooters who want to start precision shooting and beginner med-long range shooters who want to fine tune their performance will find the course rewarding.

Schedule

This 1-day training program is run every other month on a weekend. Check the calendar on the booking page to save your place on upcoming dates.

Please plan to arrive approximately 15 minutes early to sign in at the range and complete the safety briefing.

Gear/pack list

Participants may use their own rifles or rent the required firearms and equipment, and will typically need:

• A 223 or larger caliber rifle with a magnified optic or scope, with approximately 100 rounds of ammunition.
• Any tools or batteries required for your chosen optic, including spares.
• (Optional) bipod and/or shooting rest /squeeze bag.
• (Optional) sling or rifle bag to comfortably carry rifle.
• (Optional) range finder, binoculars, or other observation devices.
• Notebook and pens/paper for classroom use, and a small personal notebook for keeping DOPE during live fire training.
• Appropriate range attire; specifically long pants and closed shoes, and standard eye and ear protection is required to be worn at all times.
• Consider the weather and environment. We recommend everyone bring some water and snacks and - depending on location and time of year - consider sunscreen and bug spray to stay comfortable.
