Individual coaching sessions are popular with new shooters who want to build up basic skills quickly, and work on their technique.

Working with one of our highly experienced trainers is also a great way for intermediate shooters who want to move into tactical shooting or competition shooting to build a base of dynamic shooting skills before starting out in group settings.

H3VSG have a roster of 6 practicing Veteran trainers on staff - including a female trainer specializing in coaching Women in self defense and other practical shooting disciplines - and we will match you with the trainer best suited to your level and goals.

Learning objectives

During this 2-hour individual coaching session, your trainer will assess your shooting competency, understand your goals for improvement, and then work with you to build your skills and give you the knowledge and exercises you need to continue practicing and improving at the range on your own, or be fully prepared to join a group class.

Every session will be tailored to your individual needs and goals, however most participants can also expect to learn:

• Range etiquette, safety and adapting safety in group settings.
• RSO commands and how to work with an RSO downrange.
• Maintenance cycles and recommended weapon care.
• Threat management and shoot/no shoot decision making.
• Basic movement patterns and muzzle disciple.
• Proficiency with optics, irons, and different aiming systems.
• Tactical weapon handling, reloading, malfunction clearing.
• Using mag pouches and holsters, drawing and carrying.
• Shooting and reloading from different positions.
• Effective firearm use while compromised; e.g. shooting offhand/injured.
• Set of recommended dry fire drills to continue practicing at home.
• Set of recommended live fire drills to continue practicing at the range.

We'll contact you ahead of your scheduled session to discuss your personal goals, and structure the time to meet your needs.

Training slots are available most weekends, check the calendar on our booking page to reserve your preferred time.

Training will run at least 2 hours, please plan to arrive approximately 15 minutes early to sign in at the range and complete the safety briefing.

Gear/pack list

Participants should bring any guns and gear they want to use/learn to use, along with sufficient ammunition. Additionally, we recommend everyone bring:

• Appropriate range attire; specifically long pants and closed shoes, and standard eye and ear protection is required to be worn at all times.
• Consider the weather and environment. We recommend everyone bring some water and snacks and - depending on location and time of year - consider sunscreen and bug spray to stay comfortable.

For new shooters who want to learn safe weapon handling and basic marksmanship before owning their own gun, rental gear and firearms are available for $50.

All other equipment - for example targets and dummy rounds - will be provided by your assigned H3VSG trainer.
